Enjoy, enlighten yourselves, suggest something if you’re beginning to get a sense of the kinds of things that capture my attention.
Locke Lamora and the Bottled Serpent: This was an exciting release for me. It’s a fun series and I was happy to see the author is in a place to write again.
Lifesaving Blood Donor Dies: This was a heartwarming story. I am very moved by persistence over time, any decision that’s followed through on and has a real and positive impact.
Dwarf Fortress: People are huge fans of this. The story is cool and the free version seems to give you quite a taste for the depth and complexity on offer.
Negative World Christianity: There’s a certain pat, I-have-it-figured-out ahistoricity to this kind of thing, but it really comes down to discovering you are not the cultural default you think you once were.
Cheap Cooking: I love the cheap foods of every culture and the convergent evolution associated with the “What can we do with grains and legumes?” mentality.
FIRE and Stock Market Swings: I return to this blog a few times a year. It’s a nice, pragmatic reset and refocus.
Antivenoms: This is just a cool reminder that there are complex systems operating behind the scenes should you ever need them.
Browser-Based QR generator: I like to highlight these when I’ve found them useful; one of those little online utilities that can be just the thing when you need it.
Magnus Archives: This was recommended by a friend. It’s about…the horror of insomnia, I guess.
Aider: This is supposed to be the good one, but these tools are changing fast. Supposedly, more granular control than Copilot.
